WORSHIP

Worship occurred throughout the meeting. The Rev. Dr. Diane Moffett (Director of Presbyterian Mission Agency preached a sermon based on Matthew 25:31-46. An offering of $1,122 was collected and designated for mission co-workers Les and Cindy Morgan (Bangadesh). Kathy Angi (Stated Supply, Winton) and Bruce Fairbairn (elder, Crestview) presided at the celebration of the Lord’s Supper

 

ACTIONS

The presbytery conducted business which included these actions and

activities:

  • Received Thomas Wilson from the Presbytery of New Hope
  • Authorized Charles Tinsley (San Francisco presbytery) and Rev. Yundon “Tom” Jeong (Korean Presbyterian Church) to minister within the Presbytery
  • Renewed or approved changes in calls and ministry assignments:
    • Charles Tinsley as part-time stated supply @ West Cincinnati
    • Kathleen Daniels as part-time stated supply @ Dry Ridge
  • Appointed moderators to the Aurora, Hopewell, Fort Thomas First, and Wilson Memorial
  • Appointed a Teaching Elder mentor for a
  • Approved mission studies of the Fort Thomas First, Montgomery, and Hillsoboro churches so they can seek pastoral leadership
  • Met Edward Thompson, the new Presbyterian Board of Pensions church consultant for our presbytery, and received “good news” from the BOP.
  • Elected Margaret Heidenreich (member, Covenant First) as Young Adult Commissioner to the Synod, and the Kris Moore as chair of the Committee on Ministry.
  • Enrolled Mary Hayes (member, Heritage) as a candidate for ministry under care of the
  • Commissioned Allison Sherman (member, Lakeside) as a Young Adult Volunteer to serve in the
  • Celebrated retiring ministers, Jan Dillaman (Venice), Rev. Larry Kent (Sycamore), Rev. Dana Stout (Aurora/Hopewell)
  • Shared a meal
  • Engaged in facilitated conversations in groups about Congregational Vitality, Dismantling Structural racism, Hunger, Youth, and Community

 


INFORMATION

The presbytery also received a number of reports of work done by

various committees and officers, including:

  • Synod Commissioner’s Report
  • An update on per capita giving to date, the treasurer’s report of actual Presbytery budget, and the trustees
  • An update on the work of the Interim General Presbyter search committee
  • One Hopeful Fund (mission) grants to:
    • a PDA Mission Trip team to Puerto Rico
    • Mary Hayes (candidate) educational trip to Israel
    • Third Presbyterian Church VBS
    • Abby King-Kaiser for expenses for a speaking engagement
    • Cornerstone Ministries, supported by several Northern KY congregations
  • Announcements of upcoming events:
    • Presbytery Day with the Cincinnati Reds, Sat 9/7, 4:10 PM @ Great American Ballpark
    • Discussion on Neighborhood Church with Elder Vilmarie Cintron- Olivieri, Co-moderator of the 223 GA; 9/14, 9AM-2PM @ the Pleasant Ridge Church
    • Elder Symposium offered by NEXT Church, 9/21, 9AM-Noon @ Knox
    • Presbytery Service of Thanks and Giving, 11/24, 4PM @ North.
