WORSHIPED by celebrating the Lord’s Supper and reflecting on one of the Strategic Directions adopted by the Presbytery:  Connecting.  Elder Lynne Wells (CLP, Bond Hill) preached on Micah 6:6-8.  We also commissioned people to serve as commissioners and a youth advisory delegate to this summer’s General Assembly:  elders George Betz (Union), Barbara Harrison (Sycamore), and Susan Ingmire (Mt. Auburn); ministers Cinda Gorman (co-pastor, Westwood First), Tom James (co-pastor, Glendale First), and Maurice Mitchell (pastor, Hillsboro First); and YAD Jack Murphy (Lakeside).

SHARED an extended period of fellowship and refreshment.

SPOTLIGHTED St. John’s Westminster Union Church as a congregation undergoing transformation as a result of a merger of two congregations.

HEARD General Presbyter Jim DiEgidio’s thoughts that a mission shaped presbytery must be Christ-centered and incarnational.

EXAMINED and approved Nathan Wright for ordination as a minister of the Word and Sacrament.  He has been called to serve as associate pastor at Covenant-First Church

APPROVED changes in pastoral relationships:

 DISMISSED ministers to other presbyteries:

  • Paul Hammer (HR) to Mackinac

  • James Graham (HR) to Miami Valley

COMMISSIONED Elder Jim Faas (Crestview) as Commissioned Lay Pastor of Russellville.

ELECTED members to the Board of Trustees and the Ecclesiastical Affairs Committee.  Also, elected the Rev. Ruth Dunn (HR; interim pastor, Georgetown) as a commissioner to the Synod of the Covenant and the Rev. Tom York (pastor, Knox) as presbytery Moderator to assume office at the September presbytery meeting.

LEARNED that Presbytery Council has endorsed three networks (Pastors Urban Ministry, Katrina Relief and Youth Adult Volunteers) and one congregational mission partnership (Eastern Area Council).

HEARD that 39 people from ten churches in the presbytery participated in this spring’s mission trip to Gulfport, Mississippi for Katrina hurricane relief work.   The next trip is scheduled for October 19-25.

GRANTED PERMISSION for Venice Church to borrow money to purchase land for additional parking space.

RECEIVED a draft of new presbytery bylaws.

DISMISSED the administrative commission that installed the Rev. Mike Brewer as pastor of Blue Ash Church.

REDRESSED the imbalance of ministers and elders eligible to vote at presbytery meetings by inviting each of the following churches to send an additional elder commissioner:  Bond Hill, Carmel, Kennedy Heights, Korean, Third, West Cincinnati, and Winton Hills Community.
