The Presbytery of Cincinnati met at Community of Faith Presbyterian Church on September 13, 2005. Here is a summary of what we did at the meeting Shared joys and concerns. Approved the call of Alan Landes as pastor of Crestview Presbyterian Church. Extended calls for:
Dissolved calls:
Commissioned Bill Lewis (elder, Sharonville Presbyterian Church) as Commissioned Lay Pastor at Holtsinger Memorial Presbyterian Church. Designated Mary Lee Reed (member at-large) as Honorably Retired. Established 2006 minimum terms of calls for ministers, certified educators and commissioned lay pastors serving with congregations. Elected committee members and committee chairs:
Elected Synod Commissioner Bill Westmoreland. Commissioned team of 10 people who are traveling to Guatemala to visit and work with K’anhab’al Presbytery. Expanded responsibilities of the Outdoor Education Task Force to include Christian education opportunities. Amended the Standing Rules to elect the Vice-Moderator and Moderator in March rather than July so that both may attend General Assembly as observers. During worship, installed Becky Lindsay (elder, Community of Faith Presbyterian Church) as Moderator and Erwin Goedicke (pastor, North Presbyterian Church) as Vice Moderator. The offering was designated for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance for Hurricane Katrina relief. Heard that the General Presbyter Search Committee has identified a candidate to be elected at a special presbytery meeting on October 11. Heard an update from the Transformation Team. They encouraged ministers, church educators, and CLPs to attend the When Better Isn’t Enough event on September 29. Confirmed the Moderator’s appointment of Marcella Trice (elder, Carmel Presbyterian Church) to the administrative commission working with Pleasant Ridge. Dissolved the administrative commission that installed Frank Rupnik as pastor of Bethel Murdoch Presbyterian Church. Approved the request by Crescent Springs Presbyterian Church to transfer from the Presbytery of Mid-Kentucky to the Presbytery of Cincinnati. In June General Assembly will take final action on the transfer. Elected Rhonda O’Reilly (interim pastor, First Presbyterian Church in Glendale) to read standardized ordination exams in October.
