Sara Smith (church visitation director, Llanfair) reported that activities and new facilities at Llanfair Retirement Community help residents lead lives that are neither “bleak” nor “blah.”

The Personnel Committee led the celebration of George Hufford’s 22 years of service as the presbytery’s Coordinator of Hunger, Housing and Health Concerns.  A member of Wyoming Church, George is retiring from the presbytery staff at the end of the year.

The Vice Moderator encouraged the presbytery to attend General Assembly’s Stewardship Kaleidoscope event in Indianapolis March 15-17, 2010.

In a consent agenda, the presbytery:

  • Dismissed the administrative commission which installed Dawne Sarchet as pastor, Reading-Lockland Church.

  • Adopted the 2010 budget and received a quarterly financial statement.

  • Designated Will Jones (pastor, Dry Ridge) as honorably retired, as of December 31, and pending the dissolution of his pastoral relationship with the congregation.

  • Approved Reading-Lockland Church’s election of George Reed as pastor emeritus.

  • Renewed permission for several ministers to be engaged in service beyond the jurisdiction of the church.

  • Continued the designation of several ministers as members at-large.

  • Elected members to the Presbytery Council, Board of Trustees, and committees on Preparation for Ministry, Ministry, and Church Order.

  • Received reports about inquirers and candidates under care of the presbytery.

The presbytery dissolved Seventh Presbyterian Church, whose members had voted on September 27 to close.  After making its decision, the presbytery offered a prayer of thanksgiving for the congregation’s ministry throughout its 160 years of existence.

During the worship service, the presbytery gave thanks for all saints and especially remembered elders and ministers who died during the past year.  The offering was received for hunger ministries designated by Blue Ash and Georgetown churches.

The presbytery gathered for an extended time of fellowship and a meal.

The Committee on Representation presented its annual report and invited the presbytery to suggest ways that the committee could be more helpful.

The presbytery commissioned Elder Wayne Reveal (member, Williamsburg First) as commissioned lay pastor of Ripley First Church.

The presbytery received a written report about Synod Assembly from commissioner Ruth Dunn.
