The Mission & Mission Interpretation Committee encouraged us to participate in Mission Challenge ’07 by attending presentations by two PC(USA) international mission co-workers who will be visiting the presbytery in October.  The committee also urged each congregation to develop a direct relationship with a PC(USA) missionary.

Sheena Parton shared information about Llanfair Retirement Community as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.  She encouraged us to use Llanfair services including deacon training and care for seniors in their homes.  She mentioned several congregations that interact on a regular basis with Llanfair residents and urged others to do so.

The Transformation Team made recommendations for changes in the presbytery’s mission structure and solicited input.  They plan to present a final plan for adoption in November.  [PDF] Transformation Team Report

We made changes to the roll of inquirers for the ministry of the Word and Sacrament by adding Abby King Kaiser (Northminster) and removing Vester “Larry” Haire (Hartwell) and Richard Lindsay (Community of Faith).

After reviewing her faith statement and hearing her reflections on 1Timothy 1:12-17, we examined and approved Denise Pass (candidate, Presbytery of Denver) for ordination as a minister of the Word and Sacrament.  Crestview has called her to serve as associate pastor.

The Rev. J.V.C. “Bing” Summerell and Elder Ralph Campbell (Calvin) led us in celebrating the ministry of the Rev. James Bernard upon his retirement.  He had served as pastor at Ludlow First and Calvin churches.

During worship, we installed Elder Nancy Schmidt (Pleasant Ridge) as moderator and the Rev. Thomas York (pastor, Knox) as vice moderator.

The Committee on Ministry reported approvals of changes in call:
Marsha Webster to interim pastor, Pleasant Run
Rhonda O’Reilly to interim pastor, Reading-Lockland
Jerry Hill to temporary supply, Oak Hills
Jean Holmes to temporary supply, Blue Ash
Harold “Chappie” Chapman to parish associate, College Hill
Alice Petersen to honorably retired
Jerry Kirk to service in a validated ministry beyond the jurisdiction of the church.

New members at-large include:
Jean Frable former pastor, Richwood
Richard McNeill former pastor, West Cincinnati
Dawne Sarchet former associate pastor, Heritage
Markus Watson former associate pastor, Union

We dismissed ministers to other presbyteries:
     Tom Brackbill to Lake Huron
     Linda Even to Cayuga-Syracuse
Kang Kook Ro to Santa Fe
     Frank Wyche to Shenandoah
and removed Patricia Merchant from our rolls as she concludes her service as rector of Indian Hill.

We approved minimum terms of call for 2008 and adopted policies resulting from changes in chapter 14 of the Book of Order.  These policies affect the work of the Committee on Ministry and the Committee on Preparation for Ministry.

We dealt with grants for Christ Church and the Taiwanese Fellowship and approved the sale of Springdale and Wyoming properties. We granted permission for Heritage to secure a loan for a building expansion.

We elected members and chairpersons of committees and the Board of Trustees.

We dismissed the commission that installed the Rev. David Zuidema as associate pastor of Wyoming.
