DISMISSED the administrative
commission that installed Holly Robertson as associate
pastor, Mt. Washington Church.
LEARNED that Presbytery Council has
appointed a presbytery staffing model task force: Ron
Cowgill (elder, College Hill), Cinda Gorman (member
at-large), Doris Nell (elder, Pleasant Run), Lynwood
Battle (elder, Kennedy Heights), Patsy Gaines (elder,
Wyoming), Jim Steiner (interim pastor, Calvin) and
Robert Sullivan (West Cincinnati).
DISSOLVED the co-pastoral
relationship between Cinda Gorman and Westwood First
Church, eliminated the position she held and designated
her as a member at-large.
GRANTED permission for Richard
McNeill (member at-large) to labor outside the bounds of
the presbytery in the Presbytery of Charlotte.
ENROLLED new minister members of
the presbytery: James Brazell (at-large) and Jerry Hill
(United Methodist) for the duration of his service as
stated supply, Oak Hills Church.
ELECTED committee members.
RECEIVED information about, and
were invited to send children to, camp at
Kirkmont Center
in the Presbytery of Miami Valley.
LEARNED that the Transformation
Team plans to conduct its final survey about the
presbytery’s view of the transformation process.
WORSHIPED. In his sermon Jim
DiEgidio (General Presbyter) exhorted those present to
live boldly. The offering was designated to help with
the post-fire recovery of
Portland Avenue Presbyterian Church in Louisville,
Kentucky.
SHARED an extended time of
fellowship and food.
HEARD a presentation from Pastor
Brian Tome of Crossroads Community Church in
Cincinnati. He encouraged congregations to be relevant
to their communities.
APPOINTED an administrative
commission to work with Aurora First Church: George Betz
(elder, Union), David Ealy (associate pastor, Lakeside),
Renee Kreisa (St. John’s Westminster), Kevin Murphy
(interim pastor, Williamsburg), Denise Pass (associate
pastor, Crestview), Alice Petersen (honorably retired)
and Lois Whitney (elder, Northminster).
AMENDED Presbytery Bylaws to
eliminate the associate presbyter staff position.
CONSIDERED proposed amendments to
the Book of Order:
08-B that would change ordination standards in
G-6.0106b failed to receive a majority of votes. 83 yes
/ 83 no / 6 abstentions
08-C that would change the word “sympathy” to
compassion” in the definition of the office of deacon
was approved by acclamation.
08-E that would modify the provision for
non-geographic presbyteries was approved by acclamation.
08-J that would clarify the parties involved in
alternative dispute resolutions in judicial cases was
approved by acclamation.
A majority of presbyteries must
approve an amendment for it to take effect.
