The
Outdoor Education / Christian Education Mission Team
of the Presbytery was established to promote
Presbyterian camp and conference opportunities and
award scholarships to individuals and groups who
participate in those events.
Scholarship applications and the guidelines used for
awarding the monies are available by going to the
Presbytery website and clicking the green tree box
titled “Scholarships.”
In
2008, the OECEMT awarded a total of
$48,120.80 to individuals and groups in our
Presbytery.
The
recipients included:
?
The Presbytery Youth Council
?
Six individuals attending the
Association of Presbyterian Christian Educators
Conference
?
The Presbyterian Campus Ministry at
the University of Cincinnati
?
Eight churches whose Jr. and Sr. High
students attended Presbyterian Camp and Conferences
– All of these churches attended their event with at
least one other Presbyterian Church in our
Presbytery.
?
Three individuals who attended
Conferences on Mediation, Recreation and Pastoral
Care.
?
Three churches that worked together to
sponsor an educational self esteem workshop for 6-8th
grade girls.
In
addition, $54,839.47 has been awarded to
individuals and churches in the current year
(2009).
Since the scholarship program was established in
2005, a total of $132,843.29 has been
awarded. In that time:
?
Two Presbytery wide events sponsored
by churches and the educator’s group have received
scholarships
?
Hundreds of individuals from 26
churches have benefited from these funds.
?
The Presbytery Youth have benefited
through scholarships awarded for Triennium and
Presbytery Youth Council events.
?
Scholarships have helped to support
Presbyterian Campus Ministry programs.
?
Often these educational events benefit
many more than just the awardees themselves. Folks
who receive awards are asked to return to their
churches and to the Presbytery to share their
learning with others.
The Outdoor Education/Christian Education Mission
Team celebrates the connectional, pastoral,
spiritual and educational ministry this fund has
helped to support. We are committed to continuing
the promotion of this scholarship program and
working with individuals and congregations who would
benefit from this funding.
