Presbytery of Cincinnati

Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in southeastern Indiana, northern Kentucky, and southwestern Ohio

                           AUDITION NOTICE FROM COF

Community of Faith Presbyterian Church, in conjunction with the new community theater

group Reformation Players, is holding open auditions for the show Smoke on the

Mountain. A fun, funny and poignant musical comedy, Smoke on the Mountain is the

story of a small church in the 1940s Appalachian Mountains that is led by Rev. Oglethorpe,

who is trying to bring the church into the modern era. To make that happen, he

has invited the Sanders Family, a bluegrass gospel group, to perform at the church.

With Burl and Vera Sanders leading the group, they tell their story with musical and

spoken word testimony that is often funny but also very touching.

Auditions will be held at Community of Faith Presbyterian Church (1400

Highland Pike in Covington, KY) on Sunday, June 3 from 3-5 pm and Monday,

June 4 from 7-9 pm and will consist of a cold reading from the script and singing

a song from the show. Cast includes 3 adult male and 2 adult female roles, plus a

teen boy and girl. Reformation Players is also seeking people with the ability to play

bluegrass instruments as part of the Sanders Family band. For more information

please contact Jeff Carter at or Rev. Sharon Carter at All are welcome to audition!

U OF C AND CAMPUS MINISTRY

THIS SUMMER THE PRESBYTERY HOSTS A CAMPUS OUTREACH INTERN in relation to the University of Cincinnati (pictured above) and Presbyterian presence. The Presbytery recognizes that students’ years in college are a formative time of spiritual development and wants to help support students through this process. Our summer campus ministry intern is Lucy Walton, a member of Presbyterian Church of Walton and student at Davidson College. As the Presbytery of Cincinnati’s Campus Outreach Intern, Lucy will be making connection with students, staff and ministry partners in the Clifton neighborhood. She is interested in meeting individually with students who are remaining in Cincinnati for the summer, to connect college students with resources, and for college students to make connections with fellow Presbyterian young adults. Rising freshmen through rising seniors are encouraged to reach out to Lucy at More information will be posted in the May 31 issue “The Cincinnati Sampler”.
