Contemporary Worship Music
Leader -- part-time
Basic description: We are looking for a dynamic
individual with good vocal skills to lead worship and direct a
small praise band (vocals, guitar, bass, drums) at two
contemporary worship services a month. Should have experience
working with an ensemble and be able to lead congregational
singing. Should be comfortable with public speaking and leading
congregational prayer. Keyboard or guitar skills would be a
preferred but not required
Position Requirements:
- Strong, enthusiastic commitment to Jesus as Lord,
- Ability to play from a lead sheet (fake book style),
- Strong enough vocals to lead congregational singing,
- Ability to lead, develop and nurture musical skills in others
and to assist other singers in finding harmonies if needed,
- Familiarity with contemporary Christian music
- Ability to lead other musicians at a rehearsal. Must be open
to ideas from the group and be confident to make musical
decisions as the need arises.
- Experience in leading or singing in contemporary worship.
Ability to communicate well through e-mail and over the phone.
Duties:
- Select appropriate songs for each service (typically six
songs per service).
- Prepare any necessary arrangements and copies for the band.
Preparing CD’s of upcoming new songs is also very helpful for
the other musicians.
- Lead rehearsal for each service. Also arrive early on Sunday
for a run-through before the service begins.
- Lead worship and praise band at two services per month (first
and second Sundays of each month at 10:15 am).
- Work with PowerPoint technician to make sure lyrics to be
displayed for the congregation are accurate (via e-mail).
- Reports to Co-Pastors and Director of Music and interfaces
with Worship and Music Committee of Session

Salary to be negotiated based on experience,
academic background and number of participating musicians.
