Council present criteria for mission funding |
|
On February 12, Presbytery Council members
introduced procedures for congregation partnerships and presbytery
networks to apply for endorsement and funding. Interested
groups should read and use the following: |

Endorsing and funding such groups, instead of
electing programmatic committees, is part of the presbytery's shift
to a more missional structure. |

Presbytery changes structure, expands Council |
|
At a special meeting on November 27, 2007, the
presbytery adopted a new mission
structure [.pdf] and its
underlying principles [.pdf].
It also decided to add six members at-large to
the Presbytery Council. Voting members of the Council will now
include 12 members at-large, a representative from the Board of
Trustees, the Council chair, and the presbytery's moderator, vice
moderator, and treasurer. The stated clerk, general
presbyter, associate presbyter, and coordinator of administration
and finance serve as Council members with the privilege of voice but
not vote. |

|
4-2-4 schedule begins |
|
The presbytery now gathers in the
following ways throughout the year:
4 Stated Meetings ( February, May,
September, November)
using consent agendas for business where possible, with emphasis
on worship and celebration,
2 Presbytery Days (March, July) featuring mission
projects and special events open to all Presbyterians, and
4 Presbytery Cluster Gatherings (January,
April, June, October) for fellowship, brainstorming new ideas, providing
feedback for proposals under consideration.
Janet Langhorst (Kennedy Heights), Rhonda O’Reilly (interim
pastor, Reading-Lockland), Stephen Eyre (minister in service
beyond the jurisdiction of the church), Don Lincoln
(Northminster), Steve Gorman (co-pastor, Westwood First), and
Kevin Murphy (interim pastor, Union) form the mission team that
will plan and coordinate these get-togethers.
The first Cluster Gatherings are happening on Tuesday, October
30, 5-8 p.m. They will be held at six different locations – one
site in each of the Committee on Ministry cluster areas. ALL
interested people – ministers, elders and members of all
congregations are encouraged to attend. |

Renaming presbytery to be considered |
|
Council has appointed the first members of a mission team to
consider renaming the presbytery:
Bill Madison (Carmel), Alexa Naramore (Knox), Matt Fischer
(Wyoming), Jim Steiner (associate pastor, Madeira-Silverwood),
and Jerry Pruitt (Mowrystown).
Their charge is "to consider and make
recommendations concerning the renaming of the Presbytery of
Cincinnati. This mission team would design and conduct a process
for considering the renaming of the Presbytery. Their reports
and recommendations will be made to the Presbytery. Any action
by the Presbytery is subject to approvals required by the Book of Order." (from
Minutes,
Presbytery of Cincinnati, May 8, 2007).
More members are needed. You may be interested in helping, especially if you
are from an unrepresented church or area (such as a rural, small
church, eastern area, Indiana, or Kentucky).
Call the presbytery office 513-221-4850 or
1-888-221-4238 if you are interested in serving on this team. |
