HEARD about Pittsburgh Seminary’s Summer Youth Institute, a time for theological exploration and education by youth finishing their junior or senior year in high school.  More information and application forms are posted at www.summeryouthinstitute.org

EXAMINED and approved James Crank (College Hill) for ordination to the ministry of the Word and Sacrament.  He has been called as designated pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Dayton, KY.

ELECTED Tom York (pastor, Knox) as vice moderator of the presbytery.  His term will begin in September.

ELECTED Everett Landen (Knox) as treasurer of the presbytery for a three-year term.

APPROVED a request from Cranston Memorial Presbyterian Church to encumber its manse in order to secure a loan for repairs to the church building.

VOTED on proposed amendments to the Book of Order:
YES on
06-A:  Revision of “Form of Government Chapter XIV”
06-B1: Moving ordination/installation/commissioning questions and service information to the ”Directory for Worship”
06-B3:  Removing synod approval of extraordinary exam process  NO on
06-B2:  adding licensure of candidates

REVISED the presbytery’s sexual misconduct prevention and response policy.

SHARED a simple meal as a Lenten expression of solidarity with the world’s hungry.

WORSHIPPED based on the theme “Peace in Family” and celebrated the Lord’s Supper.

APPROVED changes in pastoral relationships:
Howard Smith (HR) to interim pastor, White Oak
Dana Stout to pastor, Aurora First
Deborah Uchtman to parish associate, Montgomery
Marsha Webster from temporary supply, Dayton First, to member at-large

ELIMINATED, at the request of Mt. Washington, one of its associate pastor positions, which is currently vacant and will not be filled in the future.

DISAPPROVED a motion from the Pleasant Run session “that the Committee on Ministry be instructed to set aside any and all encumbrances to [the church’s] search for an installed Minister of Word and Sacrament.”

APPROVED a background check policy for ministers, commissioned lay pastors and certified Christian educators.

REVISED the presbytery’s personnel policy.

GRANTED permission for the celebration of the Lord’s Supper during the presbytery’s March ’07 mission trip to the Gulfport, MS area.

VOTED to  continue the presbytery’s practice of increasing racial ethnic diversity among its voting members by requesting each of the following churches to elect one more elder commissioner than they are allowed based on church membership: Bond Hill, Carmel, Kennedy Heights, Korean, Third, West Cincinnati and Winton Hills Community.
