WELCOMED new minister members of the presbytery: the
Rev. Ron Fritts (interim pastor, Wyoming), the Rev.
L. P. Jones (pastor, Mt. Washington) and the Rev.
Drew Smith (pastor, College Hill)
EXAMINED Inquirer Kevin Ward (Winton Wills
Community) on his sense of call and enrolled him as
a Candidate for the ministry of the Word and
Sacrament.
CELEBRATED the ministry of the Rev. Jean Holmes upon
her retirement. She had served as stated supply at
Christ Church and pastor of Eastminster.
WERE ENCOURAGED to support the Young Adult Volunteer
Program by urging young adults to participate in it.
ACTED on proposed policies: Personnel Policy – 2007
revision (received as a first reading); Background
Checks (asked task force to develop detailed
guidelines concerning confidentiality before the
presbytery reconsiders the policy at a future
meeting); and Sexual Misconduct Prevention &
Response – 2007 revision (received as a first
reading).
WORSHIPED through song, scripture reading and
prayer. The theme of “peace within self” was
manifested through the opportunity for individual
prayer and anointing. The offering was collected
for hunger ministries designated by Ft. Thomas First
and Northminster churches.
HELD small group discussions concerning the
Transformation Team’s five recommendations to:
transform presbytery meetings, adopt a new process
for budget formation, re-form presbytery committees,
provide for spiritual formation & care for
ministers; and rename the presbytery.
APPROVED a proposed amendment to the Book of
Order that deals with a new General Assembly
Council structure.
ELECTED members to committees, the Rev. Daniel
Watson as chairperson of the Personnel Committee,
the Rev. Ruth Dunn (HR) to the Synod Council, and
Elder Barry Harrison as Interim Treasurer. In
March the Nominating Committee will nominate the
Rev. Tom York (pastor, Knox) for election as
presbytery Vice Moderator to assume office in
September.
APPROVED new agreements for ministers to serve with
congregations: the Rev. Kevin Murphy as interim
pastor, Union; the Rev. Barbara Tesorero as parish
associate, Heritage; and the Rev. Ruth Dunn (HR) as
interim pastor, Georgetown.
HEARD updates about the presbytery’s mission in
Katrina hurricane recovery work and with the
K’anhab’al Presbytery in Guatemala. Teams for both
are being formed for 2007 mission trips.
SUSPENDED the Standing Rules so that elections could
be held in September instead of July. The
Presbytery Council is planning to have a presbytery
mission day in lieu of a stated meeting in July.
DISMISSED administrative commissions that installed
the Rev. Nathaniel Manzo as pastor of Cherry Fork &
Seaman United and the Rev. Jerry Pitman as associate
pastor of Sycamore.
AUTHORIZED Elder Keith Harms to administer the
Lord’s Supper at North church while its pastor is
out of the country in February. Keith was trained
in the theology and administration of the Sacraments
by the presbytery in its lay preachers class.
DISMISSED an investigating committee upon the
conclusion of its consideration of accusations
against a minister member of the presbytery.
